Junior High School Program (Grades 7-9)
Our ProgramOur program begins with the student or parent contacting us and informing us of their desire to use our tutoring service, in which subjects, and what the student's ability in that area is. If the new concepts program is selected, it is the parent/student's responsibility to ensure that the prerequisites for the particular course, if they wish to use an already designed course, have been met. After the initial contact, the parent/student will be contacted by the tutor, who will work via e-mail to design an appropriate and effective lesson plan, including the tutoring dates, and times. The student will then meet with the tutor for 30-minute or 1-hour sessions where the tutor and the student will work not just on developing an understanding of the knowledge, but also on increasing critical thinking skills so that the student will be able to succeed in school on their own. For the new concepts program, most topics cannot be covered in a single, 1-hour program, however, there is no requirement for the student to schedule more than a single session, but multiple sessions may be beneficial to ensure maximum learning.
| School Help ProgramWe tutor in Mathematics, Social Studies, English, and Science in our Junior High School Program, as part of our homework/schoolwork help. This option is not for students wishing to learn new knowledge, only for students who have already been taught the material in school but who need assistance with understanding the concepts and developing new critical thinking skills. As this program is heavily dependent on what the student is learning in school, and their level of understanding of the subject, the lesson plans will be developed based on student/parent-tutor contact.
New Concepts Courses and SyllabiFor those students wanting to learn things not taught in class, or for those who want to have an added edge in class by learning the ideas before they are taught, the options below are an ideal choice. The courses outlined below are merely suggested courses, we tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs, and as such, parents/students may request a topic that they wish to be taught in, and a course can be designed to fit this need.
Due to the nature of English as a subject, we do do not have a specific syllabus expounding our program of studies. We do, however, teach in this subject, in such areas as essay composition, oral presentation, and literature. In addition, the Social Studies and mathematics syllabi merely provides an outline of the possible topics, but the specifics will be determined through tutor-student contact.
